FriendshipWorks

FriendshipWorks is a volunteer organization focused on reducing social isolation and enhancing the quality of life of older adults in the Boston area. Their volunteers provide support and assistance to elders which can include medical escorting, friendly visiting, bi-lingual communications, music programs and more. Simply taking the time to listen and being a friend to someone can go a long way especially for those that have so much to share and give as a result of their lived experiences. 

We focused on the power of connection in response to the challenges of social isolation -- something that our aging population faces on a daily basis. We selected a pair of friends (volunteer and elder), a bi-lingual volunteer, and a donor to share their experiences with FriendshipWorks. Each unique perspective on social isolation tied together into one cohesive story which could help future donors and volunteers understand the potential impact of their involvement.
